Rita D. (Consigli) Coffey, 98, of Hopedale, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at Countryside Health Care of Milford. She was the beloved wife of the late Francis G. Coffey Jr., who passed away in 2006.Born in Milford, Rita was the daughter of the late Peter and Pia (Pettinati) Consigli. A resident of Hopedale since 1958, she was a proud graduate of the Milford High School Class of 1944.
Rita was employed for many years at GE/Telechron in Ashland, retiring in 1988. In her retirement, she was an active member of her community, volunteering at the Sacred Heart Thrift Shop. She was an avid gardener, enjoyed years of candlepin bowling in various leagues, and above all, cherished spending time with her family.
Rita leaves behind her devoted children: Francis Coffey III and his wife Linda of Hopedale; David Coffey and his wife Candace of Leland, NC; Brian Coffey and his wife Janet of Jupiter, Florida; Janice Gallagher and her husband Brian of Upton; and Mark Coffey and his wife Susan of North Easton. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren: Jennifer Masci, Fran Coffey, Christine Marks, Susan Luciani, Isabella Coffey, Kimberly Pritchard, Kristen Coffey, Erin Neblett, Meghan Clydesdale-Cotter, Jacob Coffey and Benjamin Coffey. She also leaves behind twelve great-grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews. Rita was predeceased by six sisters: Mary Consigli, Maria Panorese, Anna Peters, Florence Pironti, Eleanor Murphy, and Gloria Coffey; and eight brothers: Joseph Consigli, Andrea Consigli, Henry Consigli, Albert Consigli, Aldo Consigli, George Consigli, Arthur Consigli, and Frederick Consigli.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to the entire staff of Countryside Health Care of Milford for their unwavering support and loving care provided to Rita during her time there.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, November 16th, from 4 to 7 P.M. at the Consigli-Ruggerio Funeral Home, 46 Water St., Milford, MA. The funeral will be held on Monday, November 17th, beginning with a procession from the funeral home at 9 A.M., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. at Sacred Heart Church on Hopedale Street, Hopedale. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery on Cedar Street in Milford.
