It is with great sadness that we mourn the passing of Chester Ronald Hayes, 64, of Milford, Massachusetts, a beloved husband, son, brother, uncle and friend. He passed away suddenly on Thursday October 16, 2025.
He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Mercedes Margarita (Chong) Hayes of Milford, married in 1990. They have lived in Milford since 1995. In addition to his wife he is survived by his mother Carolyn Hayes of Waltham, brother Charles Randy Hayes and wife Ana Hayes of San Antonio, sister-in-law Marcia and her husband Jose Viteri Newport, RI, brother-in-law Alfredo Javier and spouse Gloria Chong of Milford, sister Sandi (Hayes) and Steve Meadows of Beavercreek, Ohio, sister-in-law Teresa (Chong) and husband Victor Jofat of Guayaquil, Ecuador, Monica Chong his sister in law, Gus and his wife Maylin Chong, and many loving nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father Calvin R. Hayes of Fiske, Missouri.
He was born on an Air Force base in Tachikawa, Japan but grew up in Jennings, Missouri and Waltham, Massachusetts, graduating from Waltham High School in 1979. He enlisted in the Navy after high school and served aboard USS Saipan of Norfolk, Virginia. After his service he returned home to Waltham in 1985. He met and married Margarita in 1990, moving to Milford in 1995.
He worked as an electronic repair technician since returning home from the Navy at Raytheon in Waltham, 3Com in Framingham, Hologic in Waltham and most recently at Doble in Marlborough. He loved his job and the co-workers, that became his friends. His interests always revolved around family, home, church and work. He has always been a loving and generous man who will forever be in our hearts and prayers.
Visiting hours will be held Wednesday October 22, 2025 from 4 to 7 P.M. at the Consigli Ruggerio Funeral Home, 46 Water St., Milford. The funeral will start at Thursday 10 A.M. with a Mass at St. Mary of the Assumption, 17 Winter Street, Milford , MA. The burial will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery on Cedar Street in Milford.
