Mary L. Amantea, 95, of Milford, passed away Sunday, January 15, 2017 at Countryside Health Care in Milford.
Mary was born to the late Louis and Rosina ( Pagnano ) Amantea in Providence, RI. A Milford resident for most of her life, Mary was a 1939 graduate of Mendon High School.
She retired in 1985 from the Waters Corporation in Milford and previously worked at the Draper Company. Mary was a communicant of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church where she was a member of the craft club. She also was an active volunteer with the Red Cross.
Mary is the sister of the late Salvatore Amantea, Joseph Amantea and Theresa Amantea. She is aunt of Louis Amantea and his wife Ellen of South Easton, Olga Saubermann and her husband Al of Deep River, Ct. and the late Rosalee LaPorta. She leaves nieces and nephews Jennifer Saubermann Rosatone, Beth Saubermann Goldstein, Lawrence Saubermann, Lauren Amantea Lawson, and Jason, Carlos and MaryKate Amantea. Mary is also survived by many grand and great grand nieces and nephews. Although she had many friends both old and new, the family would like to acknowledge two very special friends Mary Purcell and Paul Parisi.
A visiting hour will be held Wednesday, January 18 from 10-11AM at the Consigli Rugerrio Funeral Home at 46 Water St. Milford, followed by a mass of Christian burial at 11AM in the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 7 East Main St., Milford. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to Countryside Health Care Activities Department.
