It was just a while back I heard about Dave. He was one of my Springfield College classmates and a dear friend. I got to work with him while he was at Marlborough a lot as I would build ropes courses or make repairs at the schools. It is true the good die young. I am so sorry for you all.

My family and I have lived next door to Dave for the last 12 years. He had a love for his cats, planting vegetables and gardening and was an inspiration to us with our own landscaping. Reading of Dave's passing brings tears to my eyes as I remember how he could take any situation and twist it to funny or ridiculous. As another BHS '63 classmate, I checked the yearbook and there was a typical note (largely indecipherable) from Dave about some hi-jinks on a trip to the Cape. Can't replace good folks like him, with his wit (although I seem to recall he would write jokes down that he had heard and carried them around in his wallet for later use on us), good nature, sincerity and just being a great guy. How does one take a lifetime of memories when you have known Janice and David since we were five years old in kindergarten? I am deeply sadden by David's sudden death! The history of knowing his mother and father, brothers and sisters and his children who always made me feel welcome in their lives. I will miss his humor and deep friendship for all of those 64 years and the accomplishments we made together, as individuals, as educators and the challenges we faced in life.

My deepest sympathy to all of David's family. Dave is one of my dearest friends, we spoke weekly. I am shocked and deeply saddened by his passing. He was one of the funniest, most sincere and big hearted men I have ever known. A sensitive gentleman, a credit to his parents and family. We were shocked to hear of David's death. He and Jan were special friends when John began his teaching/coaching career at Marlborough High School. He was always a "breath of fresh air" and we enjoyed a special relationship that continued throughout our MHS careers.

Dave and I worked together at Marlborough Middle School for 20 years. We also served on the Marlborough Educators Association bargaining team for nearly the same number of years. He was able to provide a lot of levity during some very stressful bargaining sessions, especially during those that went into the wee hours of the morning. I know that there are several people out there who fondly remember those times. Fortunately, we kept in touch after we both retired and enjoyed many retiree luncheons with people with whom we worked. I will miss the monthly phone calls inviting me for lunch at the Allora in recent years. We have lost another of the good guys. Rest in peace my friend. I will sorely miss you.

He quick, sarcastic wit wasn't lost on me as I was the youngest in my family and "got it" even at the age of six! I later taught with Dave in Marlboro and got to know him as a great Dad and person!
