Marie Rose (Hellmuth) Sannicandro, a longtime resident of Hopedale, MA, passed away peacefully Sunday, January 31, 2021 at Country Side Health Care in Milford, MA at the age of 95. Marie was born on March 19, 1925 in Marseille, France to André G. Hellmuth and mother Marie Zecca Hellmuth and was raised with her 2 brothers, André Louis Hellmuth of Marseille, France, Louis Hellmuth of Hopedale, MA and sister, Jannette Hellmuth.
Upon completing her education, Marie met her late husband Edward J. Sannicandro while he was stationed in France during World War 2. They were married in 1945 and raised 3 children. Marie and Edward spent 68 wonderful years together before his death in 2013. After coming to the US, she attended the Hollis Beauty School in Worcester and soon after opened up her own salon, Marie Beauty Shop in Hopedale. Marie was actively involved in the Women’s Guild and was a member of the choir at Sacred Heart Church. She enjoyed being with her family and spent her summers on Cape Cod.
Marie Rose is survived by her 3 children; Michele (Sannicandro) Phaneuf and husband Gary Phaneuf of Centerville, MA, Edward Sannicandro and wife Lucille of Franklin, MA, and Paul Sannicandro of Upton, MA. She was a proud Grandmother of 5 grandchildren; Danielle (Phaneuf) Scioletti and husband Matthew, Dylan Phaneuf, Paul Sannicandro Jr., Nicole (Sannicandro) Ethier, and Adam Sannicandro. Marie Rose also leaves behind 4 great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held Thursday, February 4, 2021 at 10 A.M. at the Sacred Heart Church on Hopedale St in Hopedale. The burial will follow in the Hopedale Village Cemetery in Hopedale MA. There are no calling hours
