My heart goes out to the Fertitta family on the loss of this wonderful, loving soul. Anyone that grew up on Phyllis Rd. In the '60's, '70's & '80's belonged to a very special "family". We always stayed in touch thru the good times and the bad times! Joe was always there! This man was blessed with two wonderful partners, Josephine and Jeannette and a large loving family; and, more friends than you could count. Rest In Peace my friend!

Words cannot truly express the waves of memories that are flowing over me today, upon hearing of Daddy Joe's passing. The years wash away, and I'm a small child, running down the hill on Phyllis Road, because I was late again for dinner. I spent as many days of my childhood at the Fertitta's house as my own. We Smith kids didn't really consider it someone else's house, because it was part of our home. Daddy Joe was an amazing, loving, smart, kind man who had a huge part in my upbringing. He was caring and supportive, and at times a tough disciplinarian, and I was blessed to have him as my second Dad. What an incredible influence he had taking care of so many, then and now. And the legacy of all his kids, grands and great-grands is a testament to his great love. I send out a giant hug to all of you. He was so special, and he will be missed tremendously. But his love lives on in all of us.
