Roger Oakley, 80, of Bellingham, MA, passed away on June 7, 2025, at UMass Memorial Medical Center after a courageous four-month battle with MRSA. He was born on February 3, 1945, in Nicholson, Pennsylvania. Roger made his home in Bellingham, Massachusetts, where he was known for his strong work ethic and sharp wit. He especially enjoyed playing cribbage and sharing laughs over friendly competition.
Throughout his life, Roger was deeply committed to serving his community and working with pride in every role he held. He worked as a general superintendent for Beaver Builders, Peabody Construction, and Erikson Construction. In addition, he served as a part-time police officer for the Town of Mendon, held a seat on the Bellingham Board of Selectmen, and later became the maintenance director for the Bellingham School Department. He was also formerly president of the Bellingham Union Cemetery and a member of the Bellingham Handicap Commission.
Roger is survived by his loving wife, Robin Oakley; his children, Michael Oakley and Marsha; his stepchildren, Jeremy, Kori, and Joshua; and his cherished grandchildren, Evan, Kenzie, and RJ. He was predeceased by his daughter, Amanda. Roger will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
